Being a guardian family for a dog can be an excellent way to have a top quality dog for a family pet at a greatly reduced price. Our Guardian Home Program allows for local families to have our “pick of the litter puppy”, or top-notch adolescent/adult breeding dog for a very discounted fee. The Guardian Home puppy or dog is part of the Guardian Home’s family forever, while the breeding rights are retained by Golden Acres for a set amount of time, which will be agreed upon between the guardian and breeder. Once the guardian dog has completed his/her breeding career, he/she will be spayed or neutered at our expense, and the dog will remain a forever pet of their guardian family!
Requirements of Guardian home
A Guardian family agrees to raise, train and care for the dog throughout his/her breeding career. In exchange for providing a home for one of our breeding dogs, ownership will be transferred to the Guardian family when the dog is retired from his or her breeding career.
Must agree to provide a loving home for the guardian dog. Dogs will not be kept caged at all times.
We require that you live within an hour of our home.

Primary caregivers must have a schedule that allows the dog to not be left alone for extended periods on a regular basis.
Must have reliable transportation.
Must have the funds to provide proper grooming and veterinary care including flea, tick and heartworm prevention, vaccines, and wormer.
Must be willing to return the dog to us as needed throughout the year for various reasons, including veterinary appointments, breeding, giving birth and raising puppies. Guardian dogs will require a high quality dog food recommended by the breeder.
Must be willing and able to train the dog and provide regular exercise and socialization.
Guardians will be responsible for all grooming fees, food, veterinary care, and liabilities. The breeder will be responsible for any breeding related veterinary expenses.
